( theme -25 ) Let's talk about awkward situations

1. Have you ever made a mistake in the workplace that made you feel embarrassed or awkward ? How did you handle it ?

When I joined Samsung company, I attended the first meeting as a new employee. I went to a restaurant to have lunch after the meeting. The person in charge suggested that we go eat hangover soup. We went to the restaurant and ordered our own menu. but I hesitated a bit because I didn't like hangover soup aat that time. I had no choice but to order the same thing, but I could barely eat it. I said I couldn't eat well because I wasn't feeling well.

 

2. How important do you think first impression are in the workplace ?

The first impression at work can be said to last a long time. It is similar to how we feel when we first meet people we hear this a lot but we want to make a good first impression. If we make a wrong first impression in a relationship. it isn't easy to recover. when I attended the company, it was most important to be sincere and follow the instruction of the boss  But now it's more important to think creatively about efficiency of our business

 

3. Which do you prioritize, comfort or style when dressing for work ?

I usually prefer to wear comfortable clothes when I work. I usually wear casual jeans because the company doesn't require me to wear a suit. In the past, I thought it would be polite to customers if we dressed in a suit style. so I wore a white dress shirt and a suit. Companies are obsessed with meritocracy around IT companies. So dress style tends to be relaxed naturelly

 

4. Have you ever had an experience when you tried too hard to impress someone that it backfired ?

When I'm given a job, I do my best. My friend's mother passed away, and I informed my high school friends of obituary. I thought I was going to time all my friends to go to the funeral together. But some friends felt a little forced and hated it. I tried to share my friend's sadness by trying a little bit but other friends thought differently

 

5. How do you handle situation where you feel emarrassed or awkward ?

An awkward situation can be said to be a case when I feel uncomfortable or undesirable. There must be a good reason. Knowing the cause, thinking about the problem in exchange for the other person, and thinking about the opposite direction. Then I know my wrong thoughts clearly and try to solve them with consideration. That will ease some of the discomfort

 

6. Have you ever had a bad first impression of someone that turned out to be wrong ? what happened ?

When I was working for a company, I had a coworker who had a bad impression. he had a similar impression to criminal shape, and even his female coworker were reluctant to approach him. Later, it turned out that he was a young man with a more innocent heart than a boy. His father died early, so he had a hard time studying while taking care of his mother alone. His impression got worst as he studied hard while working hard

 

7. What are some strategies for building confidence in new situation ?

We should have an existing premise that all human beings have the same ability. It must be admitted that man has one thing of his own excellence. I need to appreciate my own excellence and acknowlege my weakness. And I always try to improve my self esteem by contiunously trying to learn

 

8. How do you balance trying to impress others with being true to yourself ?

We try to be recognized by others, we put on makeup and cut our hair neatly to make a good impression. That's how much I care about other people. I wonder if I have a sinere attitude toward myself. There is a lot of difference between what I show others and what I do myself. It's a small part, but try to clean it up because I think it is a nuisance to others This is a promise to myself and a consideration for others

 

9. Do you think it's important to take risks and try new things, even if they might lead to awkward or uncomfortable situation ? why ?

Even in awkward or uncomfortable situation, I think there are times when I have to take risks and try new things. For example if I have to wear a suit at an official event, I buy a new one because they don't have shoes. If I'm invited to a formal event after wearing only casual sneakers, I have to take a risk to be polite
